Oles Serhiyovych Doniy (born August 13, 1969, Kyiv) is a Ukrainian politician, civic activist, journalist, and cultural studies scholar. Born into a family of engineers in Kyiv, he studied at the History Department of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where he became one of the leaders of the student movement in the late 1980s. He was an active member of the Ukrainian Student Union and one of the organizers of the 1990 Revolution on Granite, which became an important milestone in the struggle for Ukraine’s independence. Throughout the 1990s, he was involved in journalism, civic activism, and the development of the Ukrainian music scene, organizing festivals and supporting young performers. In the 2000s, he served as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament for several terms, working on committees on culture, freedom of speech, and humanitarian policy. He is known as a staunch advocate of Ukrainian identity, intercultural dialogue, and the development of contemporary national culture. He is the author of numerous journalistic articles, cultural projects, and books on history, politics, and Ukrainian society.
