Event Report
Hello friends!
Last Sunday, September 29, Ukrainian Hall San Francisco hospitably hosted the premiere performance of California's first amateur Ukrainian theater, Traveling Stars.
A wonderful theatrical performance combined with an informative lecture-presentation on the life and work of Les Kurbas “The Clever Harlequin” by the theater's director and manager, Ms. Yelena Bilyak, took place.
The actors of the theater Olena Petrova, Diana Yavorska, Bohdan Pyndus-Pastukh, Tetiana Lozhnevska, Vadzim Pryshchepau, and Natasha Karpenko performed excerpts from Mykola Kulish's plays “People's Malachy”, “Maklena Grasa”, and “Mina Mazailo”.
Dmytro Kushneruk, Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco, welcomed the audience and wished them creative achievements.
The full house was a testament to the great interest in the newly established Ukrainian theater in our community here in San Francisco and the surrounding area.
The wonderful acting captured the audience's attention and transported them to the last century, which was being swallowed up by the repressive machine of the Soviet Union, the Red Terror, and destroyed most of the intelligentsia. But even in such dark times, the author finds the strength to highlight the realities of the time in a humorous and comedic way.
Many thanks to the entire creative team!
The joint work has borne fruit and the result of the evening was a successful fundraiser for the initiatives of the non-profit organization Gromada, namely the purchase of gifts for the Christmas and New Year holidays for orphans of our fallen Heroes in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The co-founder of the non-profit organization Hromada Yarema Kuzyshyn presented the activities of Hromada in California and told about the projects funded in Ukraine over the past six years, and also held an auction with valuable lots that brought a spirit of competition and excitement.
Thus, the total amount of money raised was $5,018.19
Costs of organizing the evening: $154.97
Net result: $4,863.21
We sincerely thank everyone who attended our joint event and took an active part in it!
We also express our sincere gratitude to Father Roman Bobesiuk, a priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception in San Francisco, and a member of the parish council. This building has been uniting the Ukrainian community under its roof for many decades.
We would like to thank all the volunteers who actively participated and helped with the event, namely: Taras Turiv, Andrii Fil, Arkady Kaminski.
Special thanks to Yuriy Bondarchuk for the wonderful photos.
See you at the Hromada events!
Together we achieve success and go to Victory!
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the heroes!
