Event Report
Dear Friends!
On August 30, in Northern California, we came together to celebrate the 34th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. The celebration took place among the picturesque hills and vineyards at Story Winery during the charity concert Voice of Freedom – Charity Evening for Ukraine’s Independence Day, organized by the nonprofit Hromada and a team of volunteers from Sacramento.
The event began with a prayer by Father Myroslav, pastor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sacramento.
The choir of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sacramento performed the prayer “Almighty and Only God.”
The national anthems of the United States and Ukraine were performed, and the memory of all those who have fallen in this war was honored with a moment of silence.
The host of the evening, Oksana Hrytsuk, introduced each of our talented performers:
That evening, guests enjoyed:
classical and folk singing by Ivanna Taratula Filipenko, Oleksandra Zabashta, and Anytchka,
poetry by Ivanna Andriikiv,
violin performances by talented musicians Sophia Victoria and Maksym Veligan,
an original poem by Viktoriya Smyk,
and the song “Ukraina” by Marichka Omelchuk.
The highlights of the evening were the performances of the bands “Palianytsia” and “Novi Nochi”, who performed in the area for the first time and won the hearts of the audience!
The evening was also highlighted by a charity auction with valuable items donated by:
Ola Herasymenko, students of the Andrey Sheptytsky Cultural Center (led by Father Andriy Tsyb in Stryi, Ukraine), Anton Demianchuk, Elena Prendel, and blacksmith Oleksandr Dudka (Bohorodchany, Ukraine).
Guests also had the opportunity to enjoy Ukrainian and Georgian cuisine and taste authentic Georgian wine.
We are immensely grateful to all the volunteers who put their hearts into this evening. Special thanks to Natalie Kokhanyy, Alexandra Sokolovysh, Oleksandra Zabashta, Ihor Butkovskyi, Ola Herasymenko, Nataliya Polk, Tetiana Kryva, Petro and Iryna Yarmola, Ulyana Bobko-Synechyn, Natalia Balytska, Olena Soliar, Oleksandra Balz, Yuliya Reyes, and Julia Calkins for the delicious Ukrainian food and help in organizing the evening.
For providing high-quality sound for the evening, sincere thanks to Andriy Shegera and PodiyaSound.
A big thank you to the owners of Story Winery, David and Joey Dediachvili, for their warm welcome, delicious food, wine, and support of Ukraine during these difficult times. You are truly our brothers with big hearts!
Thanks to our joint efforts, our guests, and the active participants of the auction, we raised a total of $10,185. Event expenses totaled $2,240.60 resulting in a net fundraising amount of $7,944.40. This is our great shared success!
THANK YOU to everyone who joined us! Together we do good, together we bring Victory closer!
Until next time!
