CELEBRATION OF UKRAINE'S INDEPENDENCE DAY BY "HROMADA" IN BUREMMNY 2020
The military organization “Hromada” organized and held an outdoor concert for the Independence Day of Ukraine. On August 22, a concert was held near the Yacht Club in Tiburon for all members of our community who were able to come to celebrate this Independence Day among Ukrainians.
Due to the pandemic and mass fires, about 30 Ukrainians were able to come. But together we achieved one important goal – we raised $3,300 for a scholarship for a student of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), whose father gave his life for Ukraine in the Ukrainian-Russian war in Donbas. These funds were transferred to the Ukrainian Catholic University in time for the start of the 2020-2021 academic year.
We sincerely thank all the participants of the concert and everyone who was able to come, as well as the volunteers. Thanks to you, our joint celebration was a great success. Our inimitable talents Anychka and Ivanna Tarantula with Juliana Filipenko once again delighted our souls with their nightingale singing.
Special thanks to our new Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco, Dmytro Kushneruk, who addressed the community and also got to know all of us. Thanks to your donations at the concert and online donations, we raised the necessary amount of $3,300.
In November-December, the “Hromada” will continue to raise funds for the Christmas holidays for children whose parents died for Ukraine. The full list of all donors for 2020 will be published in early 2021. Your donations are not only financial assistance to the families of our fallen heroes, but also significant moral support. Every time, widows thank the diaspora of Northern California for not forgetting about them; such attention adds dignity.
May God bless you and your families a hundredfold for your generosity and good deed.
