In Memory of the Victims of the Holodomor
On Sunday, November 23, 2025, the Ukrainian community of San Francisco, California, gathered for a deeply spiritual and patriotic event — a joint prayer service honoring the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine.
This commemoration became a powerful expression of unity among Ukrainians across the ocean and a reminder that the memory of the 1932–1933 national tragedy lives in the hearts of Ukrainians no matter where they are in the world.

The service brought together parishioners of the Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, the director of the Ukrainian School, children, and parents — whose presence underscored a profound truth: the history of our people is not only the heritage of adults, but also a spiritual legacy passed on to younger generations.
The prayer offered that day was more than a tribute to the innocent lives lost. It served as an act of national solidarity — a voice of justice, resilience, and the unbreakable Ukrainian spirit. We prayed for eternal peace for those who perished in the famine deliberately engineered by the Soviet regime, and for strength and protection for today’s Ukraine, which continues to defend its freedom, dignity, and right to exist.

May this shared prayer remind us that each of us carries a responsibility — to preserve historical memory, to strengthen our nation, and to safeguard Ukraine’s future.
May God bless our people with peace, freedom, and unity.
Eternal memory to the victims of the Holodomor.
Glory to Ukraine!
