What is success in theater? THE PAINTED FOX. The first play for children in Ukrainian in San Francisco

The answer is clear: a full house, sincere emotions of the audience, laughter and applause! That’s how the premiere of the children’s play based on Ivan Franko’s fairy tale The Painted Fox went down.

The newly created Ukrainian amateur theater “Traveling Stars”, which debuted on the stage of Ukrainian Hall San Francisco last year, actively worked on creating this performance for our youngest audience and gave an incredible time to all present!

The audience was transported to a magical forest where adventures with a cunning fox took place. The guests saw a lot of instructive and funny things, and even after a century Ivan Franko’s work fuels the love for Ukrainian fairy tales.

All of this was made possible by the dedicated work and performance of the actors. We sincerely thank the entire team of the “Traveling Stars”, in particular the artistic director Ms. Yelena Bilyak and the actors and everyone who helped, namely: Bohdan Pyndus-Pastukh, Natasha Karpenko, Diana Yavorska, Vadzim Pryshchepau, Olena Petrova, Tetiana Lozhnevska, Valia Pashckova, Arkady Kaminski.

The children of the Ukrainian School of St. Princess Olha under the guidance of Ms. Olga Krailo were also actively preparing for the performance. The artists Sofiya Ohorodnyk and Anna Gontar organized an exhibition of illustrations for the fairy tale with the students, creating an atmosphere of anticipation in the school.

At the end of the performance, a charity auction was held with valuable lots, for which we are sincerely grateful: Yelena Bilyak, Natalie Kokhanyy, Tanya Omelyuk, Anna Gontar, Zhanna Romanchenko ‘Kapurova’ and Natalia Lutsak.

We would also like to thank Father Roman Bobesiuk and the Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church for kindly providing the venue, Taras Turiv for the light and sound support of the performance, and all the many volunteers who helped!

We managed to raise $3,690 from ticket sales and the auction. The expenses of the evening amounted to $250, the final result is $3,440 that will go to the benefit of Ukraine!

This is all thanks to our joint efforts, THANK YOU! Let’s give children a fairy tale!

See you soon, friends!
