Annual Impact Report: Cultural Diplomacy and Humanitarian Mission of "Hromada"
Vision and Strategic Activity Overview
The activities of the non-profit organization "Hromada" during the reporting period have become a model of strategic integration of cultural identity and humanitarian efficiency. Serving as a key connecting element between the Ukrainian diaspora in Northern California and Ukraine's critical needs, the foundation has built a unique ecosystem where art serves as a platform for mobilizing resources. Our strategy is based on transforming each cultural event into a fundraising tool, allowing us to convert national unity into measurable social impact.
Mission and Strategic Priorities The main mission of "Hromada" is to provide vital support to the most vulnerable categories: orphans, families of fallen Heroes, and medical institutions in Ukraine. This year has been a time of resilience, unity, and transformation. We have demonstrated that financial results are a direct indicator of community cohesion.
Cultural Diplomacy as a Tool for Unity: Event Analysis
In Northern California, theatrical art and musical evenings have become powerful platforms for community unity and support engagement.
Key Impact Vectors:
- The "Wandering Stars" Theater Season: We are proud of the development of the first Ukrainian amateur theater in California.
- Play "Feminists" (by Olga Hlapshun): Premiered in San Francisco under the direction of director Olena Bilyak. The production became a deep reflective experience conveying the pain of Ukrainians forced to leave their homes due to aggression.
- Play "The Painted Fox" (based on Ivan Franko): A children's production that sold out in San Francisco and Sacramento with the participation of students from the Ukrainian School of St. Olga. This ensured generational continuity in charitable activities. We thank the entire cast for the gifted moments of theatrical performance.
- Musical and Charitable Evenings:
- "Love, Black-Browed!": An evening for Valentine's Day featuring opera singers Ivanna Taratula-Filipenko, Oleksandra Zabashta, pianists Natalia Kokhana and Olena Lushchyk. The event united the community of San Francisco and the Bay Area and Sacramento.
- "Christmas Unites": A concert by singer "VsyudySvoya" and guitarist Orest Halytskyi, reviving the tradition of caroling as a fundraising tool.
- State Holidays and Diplomatic Representation:
- Solemn Flag Raising at San Francisco City Hall: The event took place with the participation of Mayor Daniel Lurie, Consul General of Ukraine Dmytro Kushneruk, as well as diplomats and consuls from EU countries and Ukrainian MP Oleksii Movchan. This highlighted the high level of institutional recognition of the Ukrainian community and international support for our course.
- Concert "Voice of Freedom": A charity evening at Story Winery, featuring performances by choirs, violinists, and bands "Palyanytsia" and "Novi Nochi".
Every applause in the hall transformed into a specific financial contribution, detailed in the next section.
Intercommunity Solidarity: Special attention is deserved by the project Tzedek at The Brandeis School of San Francisco. Students of this Jewish school, Eric Zilberleib and Oleksandr Krepkyi, raised $1,031 in support of our initiatives. This case is critically important for cultural diplomacy as it demonstrates solidarity between the Jewish and Ukrainian communities in San Francisco and engages a new generation in systematic philanthropy.

Strategic Development and Digital Transformation
The evolution of "Hromada's" media resources has become a strategic response to the challenges of the time. Transitioning the newspaper from print to digital publication format has drastically reduced operational costs for printing and logistics while expanding the global reach of the audience across the United States.
Digital Ecosystem hromada.us: The launch of a new bilingual website and the implementation of regular digital weekly newsletters have allowed us to maintain constant communication with readers and donors. This is not just a technological update but a transformation of the "Ukrainian voice in America" into a powerful digital tool that ensures transparency of fundraising in real-time and engages supporters beyond California.
Recognition of Partnership and Volunteer Contribution
The annual achievements are the result of synergy between the community, church, business, and volunteers. We express our official gratitude:
- To the parishes of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in San Francisco and the Orthodox Church in Sacramento, and personally to Fathers Oleh Kapeshtchuk and Myroslav Turchak.
- To the volunteer teams led by Natalia Bankova and Andrii Shehera (Podiya Sound).
- To the owners of Story Winery, David and Joey Dediashvili, for their sincere support and true Georgian-Ukrainian brotherhood.
We invite you to continue supporting our mission through the updated media portal. Your participation is a guarantee that Ukraine's voice will resonate in America, and help will always find its recipient.
Let's unite for change!
